PRISCILLA ABBY, TOP 3 ASIAN SUPERNOVA AWARD FINALIST AT HKAMF 2018

 

26 March 2018, Kuala Lumpur – Priscilla Abby Chai, has made her mark in the Asian music market with a breakthrough achievement at the 8th Hong Kong Asian-Pop Music Festival (HKAMF 2018), held recently on Friday, 23 March 2018 at the prestigious Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC).

 

The annual music festival is a cross-regional Asian music extravaganza organised by the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (Hong Kong Group), with the support of Create Hong Kong. The festival promotes music culture, with top recording artists from around the region taking part in a singing competition for the Asian Supernova Award. The eight participating countries and territories are the Chinese mainland, Hong Kong, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan and Thailand. The event is produced for television broadcast in 11 countries and beyond. Also, an Asian music business forum were held with senior record label representatives, management companies, concert producers and the media taking part in the forum.

 

This year, the contestants were Huang Yu-Li from Chongqing China, Lydia Lau from Hong Kong, Sway from Taiwan, Anly from Japan, Minseo from South Korea, The Facade from Singapore, Priscilla Abby from Malaysia and Tachaya from Thailand. Priscilla Abby, is widely recognized as an ambassador for the millennial generation through her energetic and enthusiastic songs and she is managed by WebTVAsia. She was nominated by the Recording Industry Association of Malaysia (RIM) to represent the Malaysian industry to compete this year.

 

“We would like to congratulate Priscilla Abby on her significant achievement at an international level. RIM has been nominating artistes to participate in events abroad such as HKAMF 2018 as part of its music industry development initiatives. We are very happy that Malaysian talents are continuing to shine abroad and are able to showcase their brand of music in the international arena,” said Darren Choy, Chairman of RIM.

 

On the event night, Priscilla Abby touched the viewer's heart through her song, "Mystery of Hibiscus" and qualified as one of the three finalists to compete for the Asian Supernova Award at HKAMF 2018.

 

The two other contestants qualified to advance to the second round were Minseo from South Korea, and Anly from Japan. Anly from Japan went on to win the Asian Supernova Award.
