The Recording Industry Association of Malaysia (RIM) is the national industry trade association set up to represent the locally incorporated recording companies in Malaysia. RIM currently represents 170 such companies and businesses, all of which are involved in the production, manufacturing and distribution of local and international sound, music video and karaoke recordings. This accounts for approximately 95% of all legitimate recordings in the music market of Malaysia.

KUALA LUMPUR - Tidak masuk akal! Tetapi itulah hakikat akibat memiliki 28,353 koleksi lagu cetak rompak boleh dikenakan denda sebanyak RM56 juta oleh mahkamah jika disabitkan kesalahan mengikut Seksyen 41(1) Akta Hakcipta 1987.

KUALA LUMPUR: A nightclub owner could be fined as much as RM56 million, one of the largest under copyright law, after 28,353 unlicensed copies of karaoke recordings were found at his outlet at Taman Permaisuri, Cheras, on Tuesday. The 45-year-old man is also facing a maximum five years in prison if found guilty under Section 41(1) of the Copyright Act 1987.

版權特別行動小組昨日突擊柔佛再也花園一酒廊,發現業者使用侵犯版權的卡拉OK錄像影帶,該版權由大馬唱片播放版權有限公司(PPM)及大馬唱片業公會(RIM)所有,10個參與檢舉行動的單位,除了上述兩大協會,還包括貿消部。
